Until the Rain Comes

I was first diagnosed with multiple mental illnesses six years ago, but my earliest memories of these symptoms date all the way back to when I was in kindergarten. Growing up, I was constantly being told that there was something wrong with me and that I needed to be fixed, and because of that, I felt out of place in the world. As I got older, I began to learn why I was feeling the way that I was feeling, but conversations about mental health were still so stigmatized that I didn’t know how to talk about what I was experiencing.

For a long time, I thought that my experiences surrounding mental health were better off forgotten, but by using my stories to fuel my creative work, I can acknowledge and release these difficult pieces of my past to make room for new things in the future.
